Need opinions on some of the pages and how the content is presented[edit source]

Wiki in the current state is just a mess. There's so many things made in a different ways such as this:

I need opinions what to do. As you can see, materials page for example is just a description of materials which are put into their own, separate articles. Doors page however, shows all available types of door on one page. You can see all of them without leaving the page.

If you're a wiki contributor or just someone who browses through often - let me know which way is better in your opinion. I am going to ask people on PA discord for feedback as well and then change pages so they follow the same style. BadAim (talk) 19:20, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I thought I would come help with the wiki, as you said previously a lot if not nearly every page has something wrong with it, whether that is incorrect information, different themes or its just not complete. As for themes, I find the materials page to look and feel better than the doors page, which to me looks a bit thrown together. Captain Fantastic (Talk) 07:15, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Pdx theme[edit source]

Am I the only one who thinks that this was not really necessary to happen and that wiki this way looks much uglier? It was our holy place I personally loved the way it was. Now it just lost all its PA soul and well... Since the mediawiki update a lot of things got messed up. I reported them everywhere - support, forums, even took it to DM with some of the wiki dudes and nothing. The issues are still here.

Game is super old. There will be probably a few updates in the future but yea - everyone here, on the forums and our discord can see that Pdx is not putting much attention to Prison Architect. Posts on the forums are ignored like many other things.

You guys could at least make it so it's possible to switch to the old theme in user preferences. BadAim (talk) 10:37, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm sorry that the update was did not go smoothly, it was indeed buggier than expected. Regarding your points:
  1. With whom did you speak about the wiki?
  2. Could you specify the issues please?
  3. We are currently trying different themes on the PA wiki, if you have suggestions for color pallets we would be happy to hear them. If you wish, you can prepare a version of the "important pages" on your sandbox for us to check.
  4. Among the things that may change is how languages are currently set up.
  5. Please be patient with us. I'm sure news about future development will arrive sooner than later :) ~ SolSys (talk) 19:54, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

First it was Pdx support, then Dauth and nothing really happened so I gave up.
The biggest issue reported couple of times (on discord and even here) is small font in templates, Template:Footer Objects for example. These were used for a quick access and very useful but not anymore. I am not sure what went wrong but quick solution would be editing these and adding class attribute and then css or css itself that would fix the font size. If these were not locked, I would edit them by myself. There were a few more which I forgot now but I will take a look and post here if they are still a thing.
About the languages - I know it could upset some people but in my opinion, the wiki is lacking a lot in the other languages. I did not check them all but it seems like most of the content in other languages is translated only in 1-5%. German, French and Russian are the only exceptions but still. There's so much outdated or incomplete informations (not to mention they all are running the old theme) so I would hide / disable the abbility to switch languages completely.
I know the wiki is supposed to be in the same style as the other PDX wikis but the way it looks atm is just so bad. I could try making my own theme but without CSS it's just hard. I think it would be great to use some images from the game itself as a background for some elements here, on the wiki. Anyways, I do not know what are the possibilities and how far we could go with this (not to far I guess than what we have rn) but I might try once I have some free time. --BadAim (talk) 19:48, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Edit: This (imgur LINK) is far from perfect and could be already "overdone", more simple but just an idea of how things could look like if we used images for backgrounds for example. I just wanted to see how thing would look like. I could do it in sandbox if it was only possible. I definitely like the sidebar this way. Would be perfect. The rest - as I said, lots of work to do + official permission from Prison Architect D11 devs would be required which should not be a problem. This could be done as an alternative theme until it's done. BadAim (talk) 21:48, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi, I'll try to check it over the weekend. Color pallets should be easy, but image backgrounds may require tech and much more time. I may put it for the wikis as a future goal though. I'll have more input once home. ~ SolSys (talk)
Yo. I am pretty sure that common.css and all the other css pages will accept background-image: with no problems. All the image files would have to be not so heavy (they really are not) and could be uploaded to the wiki. It does not require any tech imo, just more time to put everything together so it looks nice. Been talking to the devs and there should not be any problem with using images and backgrounds made by them so the wiki could be really epic, very PA themed and still kept in the Pdx design/style. Anyways, imma wait and see what you come up with. Just please fix the font issue I mentioned earlier and maybe open these footer templates so we can update them whenever there's something new added to the game.
How is it gonna be actually? With the updates? There is going to be one next week and who's gonna be adding these new things? We will need someone who's gonna be updating some of the things every update and I can't imagine asking support or posting here every time it's needed. This is not how the wiki should work. --BadAim (talk) 13:07, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
The wiki staff members are basically volunteers and do it in their spare time so it might take a bit longer than desired. With that said, I am currently looking to recruit a dedicated member(s) to handle the PA wiki. I checked the footer templates when another user came up to me and they were not closed for editing and I restored the font size on "common.css". Regarding updates, other than the main page, backend sections, and patch notes (css, etc.) all other pages should remain open for editing to all users. ~ SolSys (talk) 10:21, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing the template issues. I would love to help but I know it's not easy to trust people you don't know. There could be one or two more people from PA discord community that could be interested in updating the wiki as well as two other members that are active here from time to time. I had a couple of more edits before mediawiki update but database got messed up and it does not show them anymore. Anyways, I think with the open footer templates there will be no need for us to ask you or anyone else to edit stuff for us.
Also, would you be interested in checking out css styles I could write? For example stuff like this image background:
.page-Main_Page .header table { background: url( repeat-y 50%, url(; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); background-color: #2B82C9; }
Images are hosted on dev's website. Would have to be reuploaded to the wiki and links replaced. Natalie from D11 told me that I can use any files from their website I want so we would not have any problems with permissions/copyright etc.
Anyways, do whatever you can to make it little bit more PA themed please. That would be just awesome. Imma be a lil bit more active next week after the game update. GL

The database issue is why it isn't as easy to pick someone yet. Regarding wiki suggestions, that is always welcome. If you want, you can prepare something on your sandbox and ask me (or one of the moderators) to check it. More active editing can help us decide where to focus attention. Regarding copyright, as PDX owns the IP it shouldn't be a problem an issue, but thank you for looking it up -- not many would have done so :) ~ SolSys (talk) 09:26, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

help i am stuck in failure security disaster[edit source]

What do i do when i justs says that and i dont have a savefile. can i like go in the files and find a old safe file??

This is probably the worst place to ask such questions. A lot of people is checking the wiki but no one actually actively editing and updating it since PDX owns it.
About your issue - I am not sure what you mean by that but if you just let too many prisoners escape/get killed and you're about to get fired and want to go back to the old save file but the game overwrote the only one you play on - then no, there's nothing you can do. You should never have only one save file and this is exactly why.
You could try disabling the failure condition by editing the save file but that could lead to some issues such as the warning notification not going off for.. ever.
In the future I suggest you asking questions on Steam Community Forum, Discord server or PA subreddit. --BadAim (talk) 22:29, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Unable to register[edit source]

I tried to register. I first had to make a Paradox account, which I now have. But if I try to sign in it's still not allowed. "New registrations are currently not being accepted" 08:39, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Can you please PM me this on the forums? ~ SolSys (talk) 09:27, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
SolSys: VERY strange. After picking a username for the forums, I am suddenly also logged in here. Problem solved. JustKetchupOfficer (talk) 00:42, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
The PDX forum/wikis account are connected so I wanted to make sure you did the registeration process as best as possible. Glad to hear it was resolved. ~ SolSys (talk) 09:58, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
